Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) recently held an introductory meeting with Emirates Classification Society (TASNEEF) to explore prospects of further cooperation across the fields of common interest, and to affirm their support for the continuing efforts to create a more competitive and sustainable maritime economy. The meeting was held at the DMCA headquarter in the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Executive Director of Dubai Maritime City Authority and Eng. Saeed Al Maskari, CEO, TASNEEF. The directors and senior officials from both entities were also present during the event.
During the meeting, Al Maskari gave a detailed presentation about TASNEEF, throwing the spotlight on its strategic objectives and the key services that it offers via its three affiliates--TASNEEF Asset Integrity, TASNEEF Maritime Services and TASNEEF-RINA Business Assurance. The first two affiliates are engaged in the classification of ships and overseeing the implementation of international maritime standards while the latter is an accredited provider of conformity certification, Research & Development (R & D) and training services.
Attendees also discussed ongoing and potential challenges that the maritime industry is facing currently. Several suggestions on how to overcome these difficulties were undertaken, including the move to utilize opportunities for the enhancement of the maritime sector's sustainability and ability to attract investments. DMCA officials were further briefed on services that TASNEEF offers to both local and global markets. TASNEEF is recognized as one of the country's most reliable providers of classification services. The entity's affiliated services also include business assurance and specialized training courses.
Towards the end of the meeting, both parties affirmed their commitment towards enhancing further cooperation, particularly in the move to improve current quality standards of the maritime sector to increase the emirate's marine safety and reliability, while also consolidating the UAE's position as a global leader in the maritime industry.
